About Us
Heavy Friends Furniture is Hank Hambright and Lindsay Pennington. Located in the forest outside Athens, Georgia, we produce one of a kind heirloom quality furniture, custom cabinets, and other wood goods.
We specialize in solid wood furniture, using traditional joinery techniques as opposed to screws or other hardware. This produces furniture that will truly last a lifetime.
All pieces are built to the client's specifications, blending their general ideas and our style into a custom piece that is functional and beautiful.
We use high quality domestic hardwoods. Wood is a valuable resource, so in an effort to reduce waste we often include knots and other defects in the final piece, often stabilized with a patch to increase strength. We use plant based oil and wax finish and no-VOC water based paints.
Working With Us
Once a general idea has come to fruition, reference photos studied, details hashed out, and budget determined, we will provide you with an accurate 3D drawing of your piece. We will continue to edit this model until we land on a satisfactory design.
Once the design is finalized, we ask for a 50% deposit to begin construction. The final 50% is due upon completion.
